I've been upgrading my cMP 5,1 over the years and have come to the point of upgrading the GPU. I had originally decided that I would buy the flashed 1080Ti as I was hoping to do some VR stuff (boot camp ofc). But it got me thinking... eventually my dual 3.46 hexacore processors are just not going to be good enough, and with the iMac Pro sitting at a cool $5k, I dread to think where the new (supposedly modular) Mac Pro will sit. I refuse to buy a non upgradable Mac, but nor can I afford to pay ridiculous amounts of money.
This leaves me with the options of creating a hackintosh down the line with my beloved cheesegrater or perhaps my old G4 tower, or making the switch to a Windows PC.
My concern is this:
If I get a flashed 1080Ti, would I be able to then put it in a Windows PC build? I would very much prefer to have a boot screen as I often switch between OS'es, but I don't want to drop almost 1k on a flashed GPU if it may be useless in a year or so if I find my cMP can no longer keep up.
