Greetings,
Just replaced my 2.66 Quad CPU with a x5670 2.93G Hex CPU. But it can't boot up. Replaced it with the original 2.66G CPU, no problem booting up again. Is there something missing that I don't know? Yes, this Model Indentifier reads MacPro5,1.

Any kind advice very much welcomed.

No, once updated to MP51, X5670 is a supported processor. Maybe your X5670 is a dud, did you tested it before?

Greetings,
Thanks for your instant reply. This CPU arrived just hours ago, so not sure whether it is a dud. Will bring it back to the shop.
Thanks very much again and have a great day.
