I'd like to replace the MxM video card in my late 2006 24" iMac6,1.
You can buy a MxM Type II HD4670 that should fit in the space:
http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/Store_13.html
But this card will need an EFI32 compatible rom. Looking at the 4670 rom Apple provides, it seems very similar to the rom MacPro1,1 owners are using to flash 4870 cards. Perhaps it will work on my EFI32 system.
I'm hoping the experts can help me out with some questions.
How can I confirm this rom supports EFI32?
How can I tell if the 4670 MxM cards I can buy online have a 128k rom chip?
If they don't have a 128k chip, what can I do?
Will I need to modify Apple's rom to make it work with one of these cards?
Thanks!
