Hi,

I have purchased a used iMac with no data on it. so no data backup worries for me. but to start fresh, I've tried to clean reinstalling a new copy of macOs 10.14 in recovery mode. and sadly, during reinstalling process internet has disconnected with a "failed" message.

I've restarted mac but a flashing folder with ? inside appeared. went back to recovery mode with command + R, the disk utility Now showing me reinstalling an el capitan download option instead of Mojave. which was the previous option.

the problem Now is that when trying to reinstall, No destination is available to select during installation process.

On disk utility there is only the main free of space (No data at all) 512 SSD internal drive with no beneath sub-disk at all (previously mackintosh HD)

first aids for this main SSD is OK and selecting info showing the name disk0

there is the disk image down there with only 2 GB capacity

please help

You need to select the 512 SSD in disk utility and click erase to format it into a partition.

You’ll then be able to install MacOS onto the newly created volume.

Please reply with pictures of what you see if you get stuck or this doesn’t work.
