I've got an MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Graphics Card (4GB, 1076MHz, 256 Bit, DDR5, HDMI, PCI-E) and would like to flash this to enable it for my old mac that I recently installed with Yosemite 10.10.

I checked out Zeus (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/release-zeus-flashing-tool.877437/) which looks promising!

My question(s): Is it possible to flash the card via my mac (but at the moment I can't see anything as black screen) or use an external mac (as don't have a windows machine). For example, is it possible to boot the computer via an external mac through firewire and then do the flashing? The card has two 6 pins so they would be occupy all my slots.

Ideas or advise?
Thanks.

Can't be flashed, only MacVidCards can. You don't need to flash it if you don't need bootscreens though (check out sticky thread in this forum).

The two parts of your first sentence would appear to be a contradiction.
