Flashlight button not working

Updated my 6 Plus to 9.0.1 from 9.0.
The flashlight toggle in Control Center is grayed out. Anyone experience this?
The camera LED works when taking photos or video, but cannot activate the LED on its own.

Sometimes the the flashlight icon is greyed out where there is a hardware problem with the camera. Ive had problems with opening the camera app, and the shutter remained closed. Was a defective camera, but wouldn't allow the flashlight to turn on.
