Have a new M1 MB Pro. Images flicker randomly. Any reports or fixes on this issue?

I have an M1 MBA, and with the latest update, I have a very weird screen flickering issue as well. I see it in clamshell mode and the background flickers oddly anytime there's windows (Not the OS, but a Window on the desktop) screen updates going on. I've never seen anything like it.

My monitor is connected via a TB3 to HDMI cable. The monitor is a 4K non-HDR monitor.

I'd appreciate any clues as to what to do!

We have a thread about it in Mac Mini forum (M1 mini users), check it out if it matches your flicker - it's like texture ghosting with vertical lines and low frequency scan flicker on any black and white image on a dark background.

Thanks, I'll take a look. It sounds kind of the same, though mine is an MBA. Mine only seemed to start doing it with the last update, but maybe I have that wrong.

No, it's not the same, my lines are horizontal, and they look like the old TV interference pattern/roll. (and it's only from my MBA, the monitor plugged into anthing else is okay) Bizarre. And it's mainly Thunderbird that causes the interference, though it's not just Thunderbird. I'll do all the normal troubleshooting stuff to see it's it's anything in my setup other than the MBA.

I take that back, it is the same, though mine might be a little worse. The horizontel lines are rare, but there definitely is the vertical weirdness and flashing of the screen. It looks like a physical problem with the GPU to me, but my MBA didn't do it until the 11.4 update. (at least that I saw)

Mine is more like an actual flicker or flash of the pictures. Somewhat random.

Haven’t looked at B&W images, but my issue is more obvious. Complete flickering of images. Then stops.
