It seems that today the latch light on my late-2007 2.4GHz macbook pro started flickering without any apparent cause or warning. It almost looks like it's acting as an HDD indicator light.

As far as I can tell this started happening after I installed the 10.5.8 update. Installing the update was the last thing I did before leaving the country a few days ago, and this is the first time I've turned it on since last Friday (also the first time I've actually noticed it occurring.) What does this mean? If it's a new feature that's been stealthily added, is there any way to get rid of it?

I have Windows 7 on a BC partition. I would check to see if it does the same thing under W7, but I'm sitting in an internet cafe in the middle of rural france right now, and I'm rather pressed for time.

Aside from this oddity the computer's working entirely without any problems. It might be running slightly hotter than usual, but that's probably just due to it being around 35 celsius here. I recently had the logic board replaced after its graphics chipset (the infamous nvidia 8600m) died, but that was nigh on a month ago so I'm not sure there's any correlation there...
