Airme

Airme was just released. Basic but gets the job done. Uploading via edge can get mega painful. It will take a pic and upload it right to flickr. Edge upload time ~4mins. 3G upload time ~45 seconds.

This is the only free app to my knowledge.

Be careful though, delete an app in Airme and it deletes the pic from flickr too. Maybe there is a setting for that, havn't checked, but if there isn't there should be.

ouch, I didnt know about the deleting part, I'll have to see if there's a setting.

I'm really disappointed in the number of apps that interface with Flickr. Sure there are a few that let you browse (exposure is probably my favorite of those), but only AirMe and the Mobile Flickr app let you upload pics. AirMe is annoying since it doesn't let you choose a pic from your phone instead of having to take one, and Mobile Flickr isn't free.

AirMe - next update

Thanks for the feedback on AirMe. I apologize these features were not in the initial release - we just ran of time (not Red Bull). We will have more delete options and ability to select form the existing photo roll - should be about 10 days.

Let me know if you have more suggestions. I'm at info@airme.com

Don't apologize for anything, the app is great. It's always the more features the better, but this is one hell of a good starting point.

I will second uploading from the photo roll in addition to the delete feature. It would be strange to not be able to delete pics from your phone.

Also, another suggestion, I personally would like to see it interact with the iphons photo roll. It looks like now it's almost set up to be completely independent. I don't see a problem with taking pics with airme, the photo going to flickr and also the photo roll. That way we don't have to maintain 2 of them and we can delete them on our own if we don't want the pic on the phone. If not given the option, it's probably better to have the photo on the phone and flickr than only flickr and not of the phone if that makes sense.

Thanks for the app!

Yeah, I totally agree. That's what I meant by wanting to be able to choose a picture from your phone, because it just doesn't make sense for an app to have its own camera roll, which makes you end up managing 2 different sets of photos.
Ideally, I would like to see AirMe be able to take a picture, save it to the phone's normal camera roll, and upload it to Flickr. It would also be great if there was a way to then add individual tags, add it to a set, and even send it to various groups.
That's kind of what I expect the "official" Flickr app to do, but I don't know its feature set since I'm not going to pay money to use a free service (although I do pay for a pro account, but that's irrelevant)

sweet, I skipped over ShoZu because from skimming through the description, it seemed to be mostly like Exposure and only allowed browsing of the various social networking sites. this looks like exactly what I want for Flickr

edit: looks like ShoZu doesn't embed the geotagging data like AirMe does...

Shozu currently has 2 stars out of 5, with many complaints. I'd much rather have a basic program leaving me waiting for more that works than the shotgun approach that seems to be falling short of just about everyone's expectations.

Or, I'd rather have a couple features working well than a whole bunch that don't.

The appstore is brand new, I'm glad they released airme with at least basic functionality, something to hold us over as they keep working and improving upon it which it appears they are doing...

anybody else having this problem with Mobile Flickr - all the pictures I upload using the program arrive upside-down...

I'm not using it, but I have heard this complaint a lot. I believe they said this is a known problem and will be fixed in the next update (read the description in iTunes for that info)
