Hello,

I just purchased Flight Simulator X running on my new 21.5" iMac (base model). I am running the game on WinXP Pro and would like to know if anyone has the "best" settings to run the game on this machine. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A very good question. I have yet to find a PC setup that could run Flight Simulator X with its settings turned up, no matter the hardware. In sharp contrast to the previous FS game (Century of Flight), I think they must've built FSX to run great on whatever PC or MAC was made in 2012, or something. I can't imagine they even had the technology for an optimal machine, when they made the game.

A lot depends on what addons you have and what you like to see. If you want great scenery than turn that up and try turning down the aircraft settings. Also the screen resolution plays a big factor on performance. The possibilities are endless. You may want to also try running it with windows 7 or even windows 7 64 bit if you have the memory.

Hi!

I saw your post and I'm thinking about getting the same machine (iMac 21.5) and I was just curious what you think about running the FSX on that machine. How does it work for you? Are you happy with graphics and performance?

Have you guys tried X-Plane (http://x-plane.com) this is not a plug so you know. Runs really well on my 27" C2D - settings on very high at native resolution. I really wanted a FS too, but I got tired of rebooting into Windows. My 8 year + Thrustmaster Afterburner stick/throttle works perfect and the game looks fantastic.

There is a demo available.
