Has anyone tried using FSX on the C2D MBP? specifically, do you think the 2.33 256vram version will run the game adequately (via BootCamp)?

I doubt that it would be able to run smoothly enough to enjoy. You'd probably have to set everything to minimum and then reduce them some more.

In saying that, I haven't seen any definite benchmarks. A completely maxed out MBP (3 gig ram etc.) could probably run FS9 pretty well along with some add ons and whatnot ... FS X is still a big question mark. Wouldn't it be great though? Flight sim on the go!

I wonder what X-plane would be like on a MBP (anyone?).

yes! i have it installed on my MBP which is only 128MB. I have all my settings on medium high and it runs smooth. I could probably even ramp it up to high settings. I can run Battlefield 2 on all high settings.

So your 256mb card should be more than adaquate.

I doubt vram makes a big performance difference here. The GPU and memory bus are ultimately still running at the same (slow) speed.

There are plenty of reviews (in the PC world) where they compare 2 cards from the same manufacturer with the same chip and everything, differing only in the amount of vram, and more often than not the difference is so small it is virtually pointless.
