Sorry in advance. This a a long post

So awhile back I posted on any recommendations for downgrading to a basic phone. It’s been a little while now on the phone side. Started with the Nokia 3310 (3G only) and the ultimately found a Kyocera flip phone (4G). The Kyocera makes phone calls and does texts just fine. It also has cut my phone bill ($30 on Verizon)(unlimited talk, text and 1GB). The big deal was that it supports micro sd and I was able to load my music library and works great via Bluetooth in the car.

Now on to the iPad Mini 5. I’ve always liked the form factor. Had owned a 1 and 3 since they came out. Eventually moved to a full size. This new iPad Mini is amazing! The screen, battery life and everything runs incredibly smooth. Really loving this device. Best iPad I’ve owned yet. I have not used the Apple Pencil or snapped any photos yet but assuming those will both work good as well.

The conclusion is, for anyone looking for a good simple solution in your life, this is something I would recommend. My phone is used less when out with friends, at work, dinners and so on. I ended up calling more with certain people which has been a nice change. My iPad is used for work at my company, media consumption, video (YouTube mostly), social media and general online searches. I have been happy with the compromise. It may not sound like it, but my general tech usage has dropped but my overall experience has been really good. During a chunk of the day I don’t surf on my phone, randomly search, Facebook, YouTube and more.

Has anyone else done anything similar?

Ryan
