Ok, so I was sitting in my car at work, and noticed my keyboard was looking icky, so I grabbed a cleaning wipe and wiped the surfaces on my MacBook Pro.

I now have a silly agitated looking emoji, floating in a a message bubble over everything. If I click it, Messages will open. I can move it around, but I can not find a way to remove it...or at least make it a smiling kitty.

Any ideas? Any ideas on a better thread for this question?

Thanks in advance.

at the least, have you rebooted? or you could try relaunching the finder (in the force quit menu)...

Ugh, I feel as silly as that silly face now. A reboot made it go away. I should have tried that first, its not like I haven't been using Macs since 1987. That solved it. I feel like I am losing my skills. Maybe its just old age.

On a side note, Do you know how to reproduce that without using a Meguires Dash Board cleaning wipe on the computer?

sometimes, when we're in front of an issue, the simplest option doesn't occur to us (you know, like 'the printer isn't printing so i'll just reinstall the OS', when the printer's simply turned off).

i have no idea what your side note means (isn't that for cleaning a car's interior??) maybe someone else does...

Yeah, the problem started because I used that cleaning wipe to clean my keyboard, Touch Bar and metal surfaces. I had too much ick on my keys, and it was the most convenient at the moment. I wouldn’t have used the leather wipes though.). I think I accidentally hit some secret ninja combo to cause it. It might actually be desirable in some cases.
