Hi there.

Im going to Florida at the end of August and will be there for 2 weeks. Looking at the nearest Apple shop, Ill be taking a visit there to purchase an iPad for a work colleague.

iPad 32GB = $599 + 7% Tax = $640 at £1/$1.56 = £408.

Its £499 here in the UK, so its defo worth picking it up while im there.

However, Im wanting to make sure that the iPad is still in stock and wondering if its still suffering from shortages and such?

Anyone able to give the store a call for me please and let me know what the current stock levels are or can anyone comment on current knowledge?

Thanks

Be sure to check Best Buy near you also. They are keeping them in stock a lot more lately.

OOOOOOOOOOOH. I forgot all about Best Buy!

We have 2 Best Buys in the UK but both are down in England, whereas in Scotland, we're lucky to have 2 apple shops (Glasgow and Aberdeen).

Ill keep my eye out when im there then for that! :)

Florida Mall is my Apple Store, I bought my iPad from there. Had to get on the priority list and it took about 10 days.

But from experience, when the store opens at 10am there's already a line of people outside waiting to get in. Things sell quick here. They sold out of their Apple iPad cases in an hour after the shipment arrived. People visiting from Disney and Universal Stuidos get bused in here by the hundreds with the SOLE intent to spend money. So unless their stock levels are extremely high when you get here, it's very doubtful you'll be able to walk in and buy one.

Also sales tax here is 6% so it would be even less. :)

Oh, and the Best Buys around there almost never have stock of them either. "IF" they get a shipment in, they sell out immediately because I called those stores once a day and they never had ANY.

A few best buys in Orlando have them now. Probably the easiest thing to do would be to check online and if one has it call them and ask if they will hold it for you (some will and some won't). You might have to drive to get one but there are a ton of best buys in the Orlando area.

Yeah, there are definitely two in the vicinity of the Florida Mall area (Florida Mall and Millenia Best Buys).

In addition, there are two more Apple stores in the Orlando area: Millenia and Altamonte (Altamonte is about a 25-35 minute drive from Florida Mall, depending on traffic (which can be horrible)).

I was in Tampa yesterday and my two colleagues decided they wanted an iPad just like mine. We went to a nice mall (International?) and walked right into a VERY busy Apple store. However, 30 minutes later we walked out with two 64gig 3G units. The store only had 3G units in stock.

Okdok.

Thanks for the advice.

Will have to get on the priority list soon then i reckon...
