Hi All,

I have an Airplay2 FM Transmitter that worked well on my 1G iPod Touch. Now that I've upgraded to 3G, it seems that the audio ouputs to the internal speakers rather than through the dock connector to the FM Transmitter. Is there any way to switch the audio output to the dock connector or is the Airplay2 simply not compatible? Is there an FM Transmitter that is known to be compatible with the newest Touch?

Thanks for any help!

If the transmitter uses the line out of the iPod (the audio output of the dock), then you shouldn't be having that problem. Does the transmitter need batteries? Have you put fresh ones in? Do you plug it in before turning the iPod on? Just some common solutions.

It's an airplay2, which uses the dock connection. I wasn't aware that there are line-out transmitters, though I haven't really looked at what's available these days. No batteries required. I've tried every which way of plugging it in...while the ipod's on, before turning it on and even resetting while it's plugged in. As stated, this transmitter was working fine with my 1G Touch.

I know that a friend has a similar transmitter, and not only does it plug into a dock thing at the bottom, there is also a little AUX cord that goes into the headphone jack

If it uses the dock it's line out. If it uses the headphone jack it isn't. Maybe your iPod will no longer supply the power it needs? Apple fiddled with the power circuitry in the 2G IIRC, among other things removing firewire charging.
