FML Help please! New computer BSOD (Restoring from Winclone)

So I had a Macbook with Windows 7 partition (RTM from MSDNAA since I need it for Visual Studio 2008) and I created a backup with Winclone.

I got a new MBP 13" and so tried to install the partition from Winclone.. It says that it was restored successfully but when I start up my computer I get BSOD and my computer keeps restarting. (Think its due to hardware change?) I cannot even repair it with the windows 7 cd. Help me please, I have to work on a project (.NET assignment)!!!

Don't worry I had a similar situation with windows 7 RC and winclone. All you have to do is take the backup file (it should be a .winclone file), right click it, select show package contents, double click windows.dmg from the new window, and there you have it, your entire windows machine. Next just find the files you need then put them on a flash drive and reinstall windows and restore the files to where they were.

Oh and by format do you mean you have gotten rid of the Boot Camp partition or something else?

Yeah, the problem is that it screws up the CD key! I now have to request a new cd key from MSDNAA. ( I got new computer, formatted and sold old )

Well then you have already solved your problem, get the new cd key and start anew, you may be best off to not restore from winclone and just get the files you need off the .winclone file mostly because winclone does not directly support win 7 and also its one less thing that can go wrong, but thats just my two cents. Also at what time is the BSOD occurring during boot up?

I would try to be meticulous in preparing the partition. Definitely use Bootcamp rather than disk utility. Check that you have GUID partition table selected as option and not anything else in partitioning.

If you get the chance to do anything with windows before it crashes run Bootcamp 3.0 from the Snow Leopard DVD.

Hardware changes may be at the core of your problem. I have successfully Wincloned a 2006 to a 2009 Mac Pro and the changes in hardware are huge among them the complete chip set.

It goes to that loading screen and then BSOD; cannot do anything . I reinstalled everything and am gonna head down to the Admin on Monday so that I can get a new key (I get 30 days before it deactivates).
