Okay so I'm a bit confused using Focus mode.

I want to set it up so I can receive calls from people I allow, but do I also need to allow Phone app in order to receive calls or why is there an option to choose Phone app?

If I exclude the app but allow people to call me at the same time, what will happen?

No you don’t have to add a App to receive notifications from a specific person in your contact list.

You don’t need to add the phone app. That would let all calls through, negating the white list you created by adding specific people.

Ok, what about for example Work focus.. I have Allow calls from Everyone and I have Allow Repeated Calls..

How does that work? Because it's a bit contradictory if you know what I mean :D

So ok you receive all calls even if they aren’t in your contact list as well as repeat calls. What do you think is contradicting? Sleep vs Work focus?

I just don’t understand that setting.

I have allowed calls from Everyone in a Work focus and I also have repeated calls enabled there. So how does it actually work? Why would I have repeated calls enabled while I already allow calls from anyone?

Doesn’t the setting work like.. you have a call from someone that’s not on your list and the first time they call it’s silenced and if they call again within 3 minutes it gets through?

“Allow repeat calls” on would allow a caller to quickly ring back through within 3 minutes of their original call. With it off that call would not go through until some time (3 minutes?)had passed. That’s how it’s supposed to work on paper but it would be easy enough to verify and test. It would be nice to know what the time delay is with allow repeat calls off, 3 minutes or longer?
So once I thought about it I think your explanation maybe correct. Allow repeat calls would allow a call that maybe normally filtered out go through if repeated in 3 minutes so yes can be confusing.

I took the time to test this out so yes when “everyone” is selected the Allow repeat calls changes nothing on or off. It only works when you actually filter calls as you described above.

That's interesting. Apple could modify the option and "grey it out", when Everyone is selected or "Phone" app is added to the allowed list, in order to deal with confusion. I bet I'm not the only one..
