I'm sure this may get locked when the site creates an article but kuo reported this morning he expects a foldable ipad to arrive in 2024. Will you have interest in this? no real news on size. But I believe it was mentioned maybe 8 inch device but that was when it was rumoured as a foldable iphone.

It might as well be rumored Mac-iPad hybrid, wont be the first time people misinterpret things when it comes to rumored devices.

If its just an iPad - not the slightest interest at all, no "pro" apps and some 3000-3500€ price for a toy is not something Id be interested in ever.

My M1 12.9 is already overkill with all that power that goes nowhere, now imagine M1/M2 12.9 on steroids that still lacks calculator.

Doubtful without knowledge about how fast it will age, the image quality and the robustness. A foldable device in the range of 20 inch is mentioned. This is not for the common person but those relying on pencil for work.

For work, no, not even a 16 inch rigid iPad is a good choice. It will be very fragile for travelling unless hard cases are used (like violin cases). A foldable device will be less fragile when stuffed into a backback.

I've had bad experience with folding phones or hinged phones.

I'll let the gentile folks buy the 1st 10 generations to pay for the R&D

A crease in the screen sounds awful to run your fingers across or draw on, and I doubt the hinge will be sturdy enough to take those kinds of forces. No thanks.

Hmm. I don't know. Whenever something new and different gets revealed, a lot of negative opinions (by that I mean more than usual) spread around because it's new and different. I like the idea of a foldable iPad-Mac hybrid, would solve most of the problems of people that want a powerful tablet that can also fully exert said power. Now you can have a tablet with true desktop-class apps.

And if it's just a foldable iPad, then there would be a lot of cool combos available. For example, want a true typing experience? Fold it like a laptop and use the bottom as a touch keyboard (knowing Apple, they won't do that because they need to sell Magic Keyboards.)

While I doubt that we’ll get a hybrid Mac iPad I’m generally speaking always interested in new devices and how one could integrate them. But it’s too early to be more specific for me at this stage.

After years of trashing Samsung, the second Apple puts out a foldable, people around here will hail it as the most revolutionary thing ever.

Personally, I think a phone should come first. I don't see a huge point in taking a big iPad and making it slightly less big.

I am not against foldables but there are a couple of requirements I have before I would entertain buying one 1. no crease - no way I could use an Apple pencil on an iPad with a crease in it 2. when closed it must be nearly (or close to) the thickness of its equivalent non foldable option - carrying a non-foldable iPad is no big shakes so a foldable iPad must solve a problem not create one.

It is interesting to see what a foldable iPad could bring - I very much doubt it is purely to have a sort of built in keyboard as touch typing on a screen is not nearly as productive as a physical keyboard.

Yeah, the crease is a no go for me too. I still really don't see the utility in this unless they're much thinner than their current iterations.
