Folder gone missing

One of the folders on my external HDD is gone missing due to an incident where the operation system wasn't responding and at the same time I had a folder and lets call it Folder A and this folder have subfolders, I opened one of the subfolders and I wanted to go back to the main folder folder A, mistakenly I have moved the main folder Folder A into one of the many subfolders. While the main folder Folder A was in the moving process the OS and the external HDD stopped responding, had left me only one choice is to remove the external HDD, and that move unfortunately lost me an important folder. The question Is could it be recoverable ? If so How?

Normally a move can be undone with cmd+Z, but you probably done so much since. Have you tried searching for it?

Yes I have tried EasyFind for mac to search for it but I couldn't find it. Any other suggestions ?

Just a deleted file recovery software tool maybe of one sort or another. There are many.

I get an error when I try to move a folder into a folder that is contained within the folder: "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."
Try searching for filenames or parts of filenamesin addn to folder names, and turn on all of EasyFind's include invisible files, and search inside packages etc. options as well. Your folder may be sitting perfectly happy inside the iTunes App package, or similar, where you'd never find it using a simple search strategy.
