Folder Permission Issues on Mac Server

Hi

I have a Mac OSX Server v 5.1.7. I have a Folder share configured with all the permissions, but only to notice that the permission is not being inherited by other Files. Why would that be?

Also one of the permissions we have on that share e.g. pwusers, but displays the name as users instead of pwusers on the folder/file, why would that be? how and why would it change the group-name.

Please advise as to what can be done to resolve the permission issue.

i have manually created & copied the files over to the location, but still no permission are being inherited like it should.

Can you please clarify and elaborate as to how permissions is inherited/Retained when Copying, Moving and Creating filed from the parent Folders on Mac OS Extended (Journaled) partition.

Are there any links you an provide for me to understand?

The information on macOS ACL permissions and POSIX permissions is freely available on the internet. This one will take a bit of learning to ensure that you're doing things correctly. I don't work with such things enough to give a precise answer off the top of my head. Good luck!
