FolderShare file problems

A friend tranferred to me some video he has on a non-commercial DVD. This was done via FolderShare and since this is the first time I have used FolderShare I am not very familiar with it. My problem is that once the transfer was complete, I had new folders labeled audio and video containing files with names like "video_TS.bup" and "vts_01_0.ifo" I need to piece it all together so I can burn what will amount to the original movie sent from my friend onto a DVD using Toast Titanium, which I have. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I assume that since you point out it's a non-comm DVD, what you want to do is legal?

Anyways, I think that handbrake will easily just take the folder and burn it into an easy managable file (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12987).

Otherwise, you should be able to just put all those files onto the disc via TT and then burn it and it will function like any other DVD does.

Thanks for the info, Inferno! I will check into Handbrake when I get home this evening. As for the other method, pardon my ignorance, but what is TT?

Sorry about that, I was being a lazy typer and shortening Toast Titanium. I should've just said Toast...I don't know why I did that

I do have Toast Titanium and when I tried to drag and drop the above mentioned files, "TT" said the files were not compatible. That may not be an exact quote, but it is close. I will try again when I get home from work and re-post with the error message verbatim. Thanks.

Well I re-read the responses here and thought about it, and *viola!* I GOT IT!! I was opening the folder named VIDEO_TS and trying to add the individual files within that folder to "TT". When I tried to add the entire "VIDEO_TS" folder, of course it worked and I am currently burning a DVD from the material I initially asked about. Thanks Inferno!!

I do have a question, however. Can someone please explain to me why it works this way, and why I cannot add the individual files within the VIDEO_TS folder? PLEASE . . . . and THANK YOU!!!!

Yay! I'm glad to hear it's worked

I think the reason why it needs to be the folder and not the individual files within the folder is because of the way the DVD reads information. If there are only the files there w/no folder, DVD players wouldn't be able to figure out that the information they're looking for is actually there. I'm not sure how accurate this answer is, though, but it sensible to me after having looked at the files on many of my DVDs...
