Hey I start looking in to buy a Football Manager game for my mac and found that Championship Manager came out in September but is not likely to come out with a version for mac any time soon.

In the old day rocking my parents pc I just to play EAsports Fifa Football Manager and some one at the MacHouse in Amsterdam told me EA was coming with more games for the mac.

So my question is, what is the better Football Manager game and is there a new Football Manager game coming to the mac any time soon?

No, I have no idea about this.
I still play Soccer 2008. For me this the best game ever I found.

The definitive Football Manager game on any platform is SiGame's Football Manager series of which the latest is 2009 and runs native on Mac. This is actually the original Champman series but renamed after Eidos dumped them and kept the Champman name for themselves.

I'd recommend maybe waiting a few weeks after release until the patch is released before buying it – the last couple of versions have had a few bugs which hampered some folk's enjoyment of the game.

After a couple of weeks the price might come down a bit as well. ;)

Football Manager is actually Championship Manager and Championship Manager is a new (ish) creation by Eidos. Long story but trust me ;)

Football Manager 2010 will be out end of oct. For both PC and Mac (PSP too I think).

And Jaffa… all versions, even after being patched are buggy as hell but the game is so addictive once your in theres no getting out.

basically eidos used to publish the old CM series that Sigames used to develop. some big argument, the 2 split, both parties ended up with the code, and eidos won the name.
sega sigames continue to develop the game under the Football Manager franchise.
FM is a much more complete and well rounded game, so wait till the end of october for what is the arguably the most addictive sports game around

Indeed – the last couple have had some quite major issues but these at least got sorted out eventually.

Stuff still crops up though – I'm playing a fully patched up FM 2008 at the moment and there are still a couple of oddities that it springs up. For example, Arsenal had a bizarre spell of playing their home league games at Feyenoord's De Kuip, for some reason.

This game is definitely one thing I miss not living in the UK. I'm still playing FM 2007 as I haven't been back in a couple of years to pick up a newer version.

SI games have online version of football manager called Football Manager Live where you pay a montly subscription fee to play.
And you will be playing live against other 'human' managers instead of the computer.

I've been a beta tester for them for the last 2 years and I can say it's absolutely addictive - bit like Warcraft

In regards to FM

For the record, goal net bulging is only PC for now. We will look to add them in the Mac for a patch if possible, but there's quite a lot of code to re-write to make it work on Mac's. We had to choose whether to do it for PC, or not at all.

As for the flicking to another screen, we looked at various options this year, and none of them worked for us. We'll look at it closer for FM11.

Like last year, where Mac users were left patchless for weeks, SIGAMES Mac support is poor.

Football manager is better :D

Yay! But... does anyone think the default keyboard shortcuts are totally nuts? That coupled with the new GUI makes it really difficult to see exactly what screen is showing. I skipped 09 so it's a bit if a change from 08.
