My elderly stepmom (70 years old) just lost her iPad tonight. I had already set up "Find My iPhone" on it, but when I logged on to her iCloud account for her, but when I clicked on "Find My iPhone", it only shows a compass going back and forth. There is no map.

Can anyone help?

Thanks a million!

Likely means the iPad battery is dead, and/or it has no internet connectivity.

Non cellular iPads and iPods have limited function w/o a wifi signal.

There is no way for them to contact iCloud give a position or get locked out.

IOS8 added the ability for the deice to send one last ditch position before the battery dies, n=but gain, with no wifi signal it has nowhere to go.

Your best hope is to lock via the cloud and hope for the best, so if the device is ever charged or can to connect to a wifi signal. iCloud will lock it and give the person who has it a message.
