Just wondering if this would be an issue down the road, with the touch bar Leaning very heavily towards M1 MBA but the active cooling of the M1 MBP 13" is also very appealing. The only thing that has me on the side lines is the touch bar?

You're not really going to get more than anecdotal reports here, and as with any request for reports of failure beware that you're going to attract a vastly disproportionate fraction people who did have a failure.

Personally, I've been using one for about 2.5 years without issue (unlike the problematic previous-gen keyboard, which did start gumming up after a while), and we've got a couple at work that haven't had any problems thus far, but that's a very small sample size. Unlike some, I actually like it quite a bit. My only complaint is lack of an esc key, but that's fixed now.

A divisive topic, discussed to death in a general way, but as to the question in your title, outright failure seems to be pretty rare, judging from the number of reports, a lot less common than, say, keyboard failure. I've got the 2016 15", used daily, no trouble with failure, and very very rarely even with temporary freezes. I think I had a freeze that required a restart once early on. And I rarely restart.

Thanks, good to know.

Great good to know. Can you set it to regular function keys as a setting if desired?
