I had been wanting the Mac Pro (and was actually hoping to use a friend's Apple employee discount, but it's not in their EPP store yet) but my video work necessitated purchasing one as soon as possible. I was dreading the 3-5 week wait.

On a whim, I went to B&H and typed "Mac Pro". I saw that they have listings for all the different configurations, but many of them are out-of-stock (ship in 4-6 weeks). Lo and behold, when I found the listing for the configuration I actually planned on buying (8-core, 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM, D700s) and I saw those two glorious words... "In Stock."

I ordered immediately. Shipped out yesterday and will be at my door by Tuesday. Less than a week!

So if you're impatient like me, be sure to check out the stock of some of these other places.

B&H is a good store. Recommended for buying AppleCare too-- good pricing, quick service, and Apple honors the contract without complaint.

I've never had issues with Apple honoring AppleCare from anywhere. I've bought it on eBay for probably the last 3-4 computers I've had.

But regardless, you're right. I've spent plenty of money at B&H over the years, highly recommend them.

I checked my EPP store. The Mac Pro is available for $240 and $320 off.

i wish you guys could figure out a way for new yorkers to avoid sales tax. maybe set up a dept in nj and ship to nyc from there. :)

If we set up a shipping department or warehouse in NJ then all our NJ customers would be liable for local NJ sales tax and our NY customers would still be liable for the same tax they now must pay.

haha. i was mostly just joking anyway henry.
i've seen how it works with other companies with online presence in which a customer would be required to pay sales tax in 15+ different states as opposed to the 2 in the ny/nj scenario.

i shop at b&h.. i take outoftowners to b&h when they visit.. and pay sales tax just like i do when buying most anything else in my life.

so yeah, it was more of a joke and not meant as "oh, i don't do b&h because of sales tax" ;)

I also love B&H and have spent far, far too much money on lenses and other photo gear there over the years, but never even thought to check for a Mac Pro!

I finally gave in and ordered the 6-core stock config from Amazon just last week, but now really wish I'd thought to check B&H as I would've loved to pick up an 8-core with larger SSD. Oh well... :(

Anyway, for anyone who does just want one of the stock configs, Amazon has it in stock with 12-month 0% financing...
