For the love of God, please fix it so that my music doesn't stop when I open the camera app. It should only stop if I'm in one of the video modes, but even then - maybe I WANT the music to keep playing as I'm filming.

I agree, it's annoying as hell. I'm in the woods and want to take a picture of a scene while listening to a podcast. I should be able to just swipe up, take the picture, and put the phone back in my pocket.

Probably shuts off the sound whilst filming because it would record the music on the Audio track.

Doesn't mean I want the audio to shut off just because I'm taking a photo.

It surely was the same on iOS 7 and i think also before.
It's not a bug to be fixed: it's a design choice. Don't know the reasons behind that....

It wasn't like this in iOS 8. Trust me. I took photos and played music all the time. Like when jamming in the car, then want to take a photo of something, the music never stopped playing.

True, but if I don't want the sounds coming out of my phone to end up on my video clip, I can turn it off myself.

Or how about making it a setting?

It's a dumb design choice and it's even dumber for stills. Absolute pain in the rear.

Are you using a 6s? I imagine it's todo with Live Photos?

My 5s keeps audio playing when I open the camera.

If it happens when using earphones, I guess it's to do with the remote button acting as both a shutter button and music controls.

Yeah, the previous discussions about this linked it to Live Photos. The issues is basically that it doesn't change even when Live Photos are disabled, and it should at least do that.

For what it's worth, I tried this on my iphone 4 (7.1.2) I could take photos with music playing, but when I switched to video the music stopped. This is while playing music through the speakers. So it seems you might be right about IOS 8 and previous versions.

Maybe report it to Apple and they'll make it act the previous way when live photos is switched off. It would take all of twenty minutes to code, compile and test.
