So...

I wait for the Mini for years, had it for a month and sold it. Nice phone, really nice, but maybe to small... I like better my SE2020, even when the screen is smaller on paper I feel it better on hands.

I tested also the 12 (non pro) 6.1 inch. Nice weight but a little too big, I know is just a bit over 5.8 but is noticeable, maybe the square edges?

So now I´m on my SE2020 but looking to upgrade and I can have for the same price:
  • 11Pro 256 gb
  • 12 (non pro) 6.1 inch 128
I don´t need 256 gb, 128 is perfect.
Cameras are better on 12, specially night mode and the Ultra Wide right?
Is the smarter choice, the latest processor, etc etc

BUT I´m a little tempted on the 5.8 form factor, even knowing that is heavier than the 12.

Anyone had the 12 and miss the 5.8 11Pro?

The SE 2021 or SE Plus is something I want to see for sure, LCD is better on my eyes than OLED and Touch ID a lot better nowadays than Face ID!; but there is just rumors for now...

I know, pandemic boredom...

Thanks!

Biggest thing for me is the telephoto lens. Other than that, I'd be all about the 12, as opposed to the "Pro" versions. If the size and feel are right with the 12 and the camera isn't a factor, that'd be my choice. That's my 02

Let me further add, if the mini had the telephoto, it'd be in my hand right now actually. Lol
*sorry didn't mean to reply to my own post, I made a rookie mitsake. Get it, mitsake, thank you, I'm here all week!!!

I've held the 12 and 11 Pro side by side and they feel almost identical in hand even though the 12 screen is a little bigger. If you think the 12 is too big the 11 Pro wont be that much of a difference.

As far as I’m aware without looking at specs the 12 has a larger display in the same size body as an 11 Pro.

I’m in the same boat. My 11 Pro is great but battery capacity is at 89 now and need to upgrade. Got my 13 yr old the 12 and I prefer the lighter weight all day. Not sure if I’ll miss the TP lens so still debating

Yes the weight on the 12 was good and the first thing I notice. But the 5,8 size and rounded edges feels good, even being heavier.

I wouldn't buy a 11 pro over a 12, year old model and re sale has tanked on them. If the weight is no issue and you want the TPL just pony up for the 12 pro and be done with it. They are only 2.7mm taller with a bigger screen.
With a case no diff really with the feel. The 12's are like a bar of soap on the sides and a smudge magnet on the back if you don't use a case.

If you waited for a smaller phone for years, why is it then too small?

Between the 12 and an 11 Pro I’d get the 12 personally.

The iPhone 12 supports computational photography which you would not get on the iPhone 11 Pro.

EDIT: I was mistaken, the iPhone 11 does support computational photographer. Maybe it was the ProRaw which I was thinking.

No idea! The concept was great but once in hands I feel it too small (the Mini). 😱

Im pretty sure the A13 bionic in the 11 Pro does computational photography. The iphone SE 2020 which has the exact same chip relies on the A13’s computational photography to improve photos taken with the same single camera hardware as the iphone 8. But to the OP, im surprised you find the 12 mini too small, when you are content with your SE which has an even smaller screen, is it because the 12 mini screen is too narrow perhaps?

Yes maybe is the narrower screen. The SE is smaller yes but it feels better, maybe is the notch free (on the Mini the notch is really noticeable).

Also LCD is better for my eyes and head... can’t wait to see what the SE plus brings this year (if it happens).

I had the 11 LCD but that is an enormous and heavy one...

If you found the iPhone 11 to be heavy you will find the 11 Pro to only be a little less heavy and remember with it being in a smaller footprint it will probably feel about the same as the 11.

11 Pro is a great phone but I would say get the 12 at this point, sounds like the 12 will suit you better.

Ok yes fair enough Austin, the OLED screen on the 12 mini gives me PWM issues aswell on low brightness (where most flickering occurs), but above 50% i get no issues at all. The ugly notch is there and you cant unsee it, but i love the iphone 4 design and the compactness so much that i’m prepared to live with it. The screen is narrow, but i have gotten used to it, and its great when scrolling. My SE 2020 is on my desk at the moment as my backup iphone, and i do miss it a lot as my daily driver, especially Touch ID and the perfectly rectangular 16:9 screen. You cant go wrong with either the 11 Pro or the 12, its a hard choice to choose though so good luck.

I currently have the 11 pro and I love it. However given the choice now I would most likely opt for the 12, since it has the latest technology. I'm looking forward to the 12S or 13 :) Good luck!

If the iPhone 11 was too heavy and big for you then why would you be excited to see what the potential SE Plus brings?

If it's a modernised 8 plus it'll be heavier and larger than the 11!

Buy both and return one. If you have the money.

Ya the square edges will make the 12 feel a bit bigger.

I always felt the notch took up too much space along the top of the smaller phones. This was really noticeable on the 12 mini.
