For those having lag with iOS 9

Preface: I'm using a 6, and went through the entire beta cycle, fresh installed the GM, then updated to the final post GM update the day of. Like a ton of ya'll, I experienced lag going in and out of apps, and all over the place. Sometimes it'd go away, sometimes it was glaringly obvious. I got frustrated with the spontaneity of my 1 year old phone performing oddly sub-par, and today seemingly fixed it and hopefully can help anyone else. Last tidbit - I use iCloud backups.

1. Made iCloud backup
2. Connected phone to iTunes via USB
3. Hit restore. Not update, not shift+click anything, no IPSW downloads, just restore.
4. When the phone came back on, restored from iCloud backup
5. An hour later, everything is smooth as butter.

I know everyone lends anecdotal advice for fixing this type of ****, but the difference in my phone right now after finishing the process above, and prior to doing it is night and day. Hopefully this helps at least one person get by with iOS 9!

** Just to add on, I was the biggest critique of the half second delay when going out of an app and already tapping a new one to open via the homescreen, and i'm not longer experiencing it.

I think I would have to uninstalled iOS 9 and tried to installing it again. I have been having issues with my 6 ever since I got it as gift. So is it possible to uninstall ios9 and redo it again?

Just for the anecdotal addition, I did a hard back up to iTunes and then did the same thing. Worked brilliantly. I'm lag free. For what it is worth.

Honestly I think the notion still applies, but this IS a forum for enthusiast who care about the littlest of details. My Dad for example upgraded his 6+ OTA and has no complaints. While I notice the *half second* lag, he does not, and even if I pointed it out he probably wouldn't be able to tell or care.

Everything is YMMV though, I'm just trying to offer a remedy of a completely OCD problem I was experiencing :)

I know, I hated the lag, that's why I did a fresh restore. But I have slow internet so it took 2 days to get the IPSW, so I wish it just worked so I didn't have to download the IPSW. But all is well now, no lag and buttery smooth on my iPhone 6.

and for that, I totally sympathize. I'm on 100Mb down so it's a matter of minutes to restore. In a perfect world OTA updates would be as efficient/properly executed as a real restore.

A fresh restore by deleting everything off your phone?

Restore as new or restore from backup? Curious as I have a data cap

Edit: Shouldn't try to read fast while tired. Will give this a go.

Edit2: Exactly what lag did you have? After trying this and restoring my phone is still the same. Do you get lag in Control Center?

This cannot fix the stuttering in the app switcher. I've DFU restored my 6 Plus and set up as new and the stuttering in app switcher is still there. So yeah, Every 6 Plus has stuttering there and it has nothing to do with a ""corrupt iOS 9 install".

I turned on Reduce Transparency and Reduce Motion. Then turned them both off, restarted and the jerky animations in my 6+ were gone.

I know it sounds strange, but it's worked for some. Worth a try.

This.
There is no "fix" for the stuttering animations in the apps switcher. This is something Apple would need to fix.

I too have tried this trick on my 5s and it didn't work, I got rid of it by turning off Siri suggestions for spotlight, now the phone runs smooth as iOS 8.4 BUT we should not have to do this, Apple should of pushed a fix by now, there just ignoring the facts and instead bragging about the adoption % of iOS 9 when in reality these problems are all over the web.
