...does anyone want to get up and play? :D

I just started Thursday night though I haven't gotten very far at all because I've been waiting for my friends, at least with my sorceress. So far I have:

14 sorc - mf meteor/frozen orb/fireball. was going to just play this one with friends but they haven't been around!
11 zon - bowazon I suppose... guided/multishot
3 druid - elemental! Always wanted to do one
4 barb - haven't decided if I want to do ww or frenzy or what yet.
paladin - haven't made him yet, but kinda wanna do zeal/fanat (how original) or maybe something else.

So yeah, I'll play whatever would compliment our party out of those. Don't really care to play necro/assassin, at least for now. I have no desire to be rushed/powerleveled/tweaked out in gear, either. I've done enough of that years ago and I think it's more fun to earn stuff myself anyways.

US East/Ladder/Softcore. Account name is Alkier, aim is andrewzro. Also been using ventrilo with my friends so we could use that or teamspeak!

I fired up Diablo II again and even though the SVGA graphics look like crap on my widescreen monitors it's still fun to play.

When I level up my characters a little more I might join you.

Hey, all my guys are low level! Things are starting to get better for me though. Level doesn't matter. :)

I just bought this game (been a long time Warcraft III player). I've never played but want to get into Diablo III when it comes out so I'm learning II.

I'm not sure I get the whole battle.net gameplay for Diablo II. Is it mainly so you can do quests and such with other people? Is it the same as playing single player in terms of items and quests?

Battle.net gameplay is the same as the single player gameplay. It's the same game except you can play with people.

You can play co-op, do some Duel, Gank people, trade items with others.
There is also a competitive aspect to it with the ladder system for each type of game : (Diablo II Classic, Diablo II classic HARDCORE, D2 LoD, D2 LoD HARDCORE)

I bought Diablo II battle chest a long time ago, but I've never been able to finish it. I always quit playing at around chapter 2 or so... Just haven't been interested in it so much. But now that Diablo III is coming at some point, I should probably play through it to see the story...

Do you play Online? If not I suggest you give it a shot, with a couple of nice people it's much more fun. If you want an additionnal challenge, finish the game in normal mode to unlock Hardcore mode and start a new character in Hardcore. That'll get your heart pumping pretty hard from time to time.

Just in case you don't know what Hardcore mode is, it's the same exact game BUT you only have ONE life. When you die you stay DEAD forever. Obviously it can get a little frustrating when you loose a well geared high level toon but it's much more satisfying to complete the game that way. You really have to be careful especially when playing in HELL or NIGHTMARE. If you ever choose to play in Hardcore mode keep in mind that one day YOU WILL DIE no matter how good you are, so don't get too frustrated.
