I am a big believer in Al Dente. On my first MBA, I had 100 % battery capacity after 15 months of use. I remember finding out and downloading Al Dente shortly after purchasing my MBA, within maybe a week. During that time, I allowed my battery to be charged to 100 %, before installing Al Dente and setting the parameters for 80 % with a 5 % sail cycle.
I purchased a newer MBA about 3 months ago, and installed Al Dente prior to first use. Same 80 % parameters with a 5 % sail cycle. I am now at 98 % battery health after 35 cycles. It looks like maybe I lost out on the battery lottery, although I realize this is very minor and doesn't impact my day-to-day. I've only charged it past 80 % after allowing the calibration in Al Dente to do its thing, because at that time, I couldn't imagine I was really at 98 % with so few cycles.
While I can't go back and redo anything, would it have been better to fully charge my MBA to 100 % initially before installing Al Dente to achieve maximum battery health? Or is this just simply a case that the previous MBA battery was far superior to the one I have today?
