ya..ads can get lost, in this day people, companies left & right are drooling for every penny, & act like theyll be exited off the planet if they cant spam u with ads, "nooo please support us we help u with "information etc" bla bla". so we have to "pay" for it with 2x ~ 10x loading time? eating our cell data or even wifi? battery life? get out..

ads are out of control, invasive, annoying, spammed, not counting those that are questionably a privacy problem (& im not even one of the privacy paranoid either), maybe if online advertising wasnt abused we wouldnt need ad & popup blockers..THANK YOU APPLE FOR THIS FEATURE

At work we use IE on Windows and obviously no ad blocks - unless you do something like that you forget how totally out of hand ads have gotten. There is often more ads than content. I have no moral issues with blocking ads - no more than ad agencies have in giving me ads. Putting garbage on people's screens is more morally wrong than blocking them

they deserve no sympathy .... they are ruining our browsing experience by adding ads after ads, in a totally uncontrolled way.
Very happy to have the capability to block them

I don't understand this "moral" dilemma with ads. Why should we be exposed to them? In reality, anyone who has spent a great deal of time online ignores them anyhow, so they're only eating up precious bandwidth. Every YouTube ad I am forced to have load on my phone is skipped and/or not watched. I completely tune it out and look for the skip button. Same for all ads that pop-up on the screen in Safari.

I use FireFox on my PC and don't see ads normally. They are not effective. I have really learned in all these years to ignore what ads I do see.

They need to make ads that are targeted

You do realise that this is precisely the reason why these websites load so slowly? The problem is often not the visual component of advertising, it is the intelligence in the form of extensive JavaScript and concurrent data connections that puts a burden upon your browser and violates your privacy. What we need are ads that are not targeted anymore, like they were before. Like TV commercials, billboards and ads in newspapers and magazines.

Ads loading use more bandwidth, draw more power, and cause more annoyance. They can die in a fire. I have no moral qualms about banishing all of them from my view.

If adverts weren't so invasive there would be no need for ad blockers. The ad industry has brought this on themselves IMO and I have no sympathy whatsoever

Fully agree. And I work at an ad agency.

I think we in the ad industry need to see this not as a threat but as an opportunity. The kick up the arse we need to get our sh*t together and take steps towards contributing positively to the consumer experience.

People in advertisement are some of the most immoral jerks on the planet. It is morally responsible to keep their evil out of my life.

I'd rather have an ad blocker that lets me select the ad type and block it going forward. The in your face you have tyo deal with me to continue and video ads.

Targeted ads I can see. Gone are the days of Viagra, feminine product and male enhancement ads. Targeted ads help pay for some things. A targeted ad can take the place of email notifications about a certain class of items going on sale.

However, there is a limit.

The way I see it, ads cause me to use bandwidth for which I pay good money. I wouldn't mind ads so much if I paid a flat rate regardless of how much mobile bandwidth I use, but that is not the case.

I will continue to fight against ads on my mobile devices until advertisers are wiling to help me pay for the bandwidth they waste.

This is not a moral issue. If advertisers want us to view ads they should consider paying for our phone and internet bills. The way I see it is I pay the bills, I choose what I want to view or not view. Leave it to the ad industry and web sites that steal our privacy and data to try to make this a moral issue. I guess thats their only argument because otherwise I'd call it theft on their part.

I think ads should be restricted to genuinely new products or services, which won't be known to people unless you advertise. And that too should be completely non-intrusive, non-bandwidth hoggin simple text ads. what really is the point of say Coke advertising to me? I know they exists..i know pepsi exists, and all their sub brands. When I want to buy a soda i goto a soda machine and pick one. Why would they need to advertise to me the whole day? I'll anyways pick the one I like.

Same with established companies with established products. If you have nothing new to offer, whats the point of advertising it.
