seems stable and the program which didn't work a month ago now works without updates for me. Personally if you have 2 machines id test it on one first just to make sure all our software works properly. I dont care for Big Sur personally. This is the first time I dont care to update my macboook pro specifically for what Apple has done to NOTES. I use Notes every day and they made the new one ugly.

Or should we wait for a 11.1? Have they stabilized it or is it a disaster? Thanks!
On main = important machine? Not that good idea. Recent .0 and .1 releases were not that reliable. I will wait at least until .3 or .4.
On spare machine (or in virtual machine)? Sure, it is fun to play there.

It’s functionally as good if not better than the best big updates. Aesthetically, those who complain about the visual changes will quickly adjust because it’s still macOS at the end of the day. Users always adjust to interface updates. You mostly use apps. The apps use the OS.

I'm going to. I've been impressed with the strides the beta's have made and at this point, everything I need and use works very well. But then I'm just a guy stuck in the house using email and web browsers for 99+% of everything I do.

I tested several releases of Big Sur and each time I encountered the same kernel panic error. I never had the same on Catalina. I don't know yet what to think. Has my machine a hardware fault? I will wait to the final release, install it again and cross my fingers to not see the same error.

Only one minor issue on mine, Safari wouldn’t play ITV live. I really have no idea why not, all other streams (sky news) etc worked fine. It seemed to sort itself last week though and as some one said above, Big Sur looks better than Catalina

I will be installing it on launch as it seems stable. I only started to use MacOS on Catalina and this is the first time I used MacOS.

If you had asked me this question before the RC was released, I might’ve said it would be just fine, as long as you verified app compatibility. But since I installed the release candidate on my MacBook, I’ve had stutters and stops everywhere, particularly with video playback in Safari. I’m hoping it’s fixed in the final release. So I’ll give it a cautiously optimistic, “Maybe.”

Clean install. Make sure you have a bootable backup first, and that TimeMachine is current for restoring data.

The update tries to move everything, but sometimes 3rd party apps are best reinstalled.

Did they remove any features, or just changed the design?

There will be those that say wait, and there will folks like me who have been happy with the betas and say go for it. So it's 50/50/90.

Is Music a mess again like it was when I upgraded to Catalina and for many others? I had to go back to Mojave until at least the first .1 update, and all was ok again.

its a design change. it runs fine. seems stable for me at this point but im not a crazy user. something about this makes me prefer the Catalina design better. its the first time I wasn't crazy about the change and still not really used to it.

I'm looking forward to it. It's like having a new lick of paint. Just as long as my computer still runs well once it is installed!
