Hello,

I had to send my phone in to Applecare for a few different issues. They over nighted a loaner phone to me to use in the meantime. I asked the man due to the phone having a number of issues, are they going to repair or send out a different one. He stated that he was not sure that it varied, etc... He then mentioned that he saw that I purchased Apple care. I jokingly said, see, you should just send me a new one. He then said he put in the request for a replacement, but we would still have to go through the official 'loaner' process, etc.

Anyway, I am just curious to know if anyone has actually had theirs repaired, or is Apple just sending out new ones and keeping the old to inspect/test?

BTW, the loaner phone says Applecare Service on the back above the iPhone etching...

i sent my iphone to repair because i dropped and dented it. They gave me a new one though, after seeing the "how to" pictorial on replacing the back casing I don't blame them, cuz the replacement process looks like a total headache. And I don't have applecare, whatever that is?

i dropped mine in water and they sent it away. it is currently in the shipment process and they will get it on monday and hopefully send me a replacement on tuesday.

They usually do not cover accidental damage. Did they say they would replace it?

i didn't tell them i dropped it in water and hopefully it dries out by the time they get it, its been a week. but i will pay to fix it if i have to. they only thing wrong with it that i noticed was the screen is non responsive on the lower half of the phone

i'm wondering if the iPhone has the same moisture indicators that more other phones have to detect water damage. Of course if most of your iPhone was still functional, the water may not have reached to any such indicator.

I have done that before with other Apple products :D

I sent mine in on Friday because my wedding ring scratched the screen pretty bad and they sent me the loaner. I just received a brand new phone today (Monday) and sent back the loaner this morning. They did all this free of charge and turned it around in one business day. Gotta love Apple!
