I recently received and returned a yellow tinted/gray bar iMac and I was wondering what the turnaround time for getting a replacement is. I sent it back on Monday and according to the person I spoke with at Apple, as soon as Fedex scanned in the returned computer, they would send me the replacement. As of this morning there hasn't even been an acknowledgment on my order page of me sending back the computer.

Also, my iMac is BTO and I was wondering if once they acknowledge I sent it back, do they THEN start building a new one? Unfortunately, I'll then likely have to wait at least a week to receive my replacement. I'm hoping that as soon as they realize I sent the returned computer back, they would be able to ship out a new one ASAP.

Well I've had two replacements and each time they arrived the day after pickup.

Mine were just base model though not BTO so I'd imagine this will have an impact on turnaround time. If you enter the order number and post code for delivery on the track order page it should give you a status.

So it's safe to say that Apple sent you the replacement before you even sent the defective unit back, right?

Anybody have experience with BTO?

I am in the same boat. BTO iMac, shipped to me with a naughty screen. Fed Ex came to pick mine up on Tuesday.. Still waiting.

BTO - They put the replacement order in on Friday. I shipped the first one back Monday. Apple received it Tuesday. My email confirmation for the replacement said it would ship in 2-4 business days. Today is the 4th business day and it is still "In Process."

I returned my BTO 27" i7 on Tuesday and Apple should have received it this morning. I received an email early this morning that the replacement was ordered. It is just like when I ordered it initially, To be shipped in 1-3 days.

2 week turn around in my experience for 27" BTO.

Called last Thursday 5th. At this time they ordered replacement. They picked 'defective' one up on Monday. Got a 'has shipped' email today (13th) saying that it will arrive between 19th and 25th.

Mine should be a little over a week. However, I am only 2 days shipping away from Apple.

Just got the Shipping Confirmation email. It will be delivered next Wednesday. So for me it was a little over a week & 1/2 turnaround (I live in the Southeast).

Bto replacements don't get release (started) until apple gets confirmation that Fedex has the original package. Make sure they fedex scans it into the system immediately when you drop it off. Then followup with apple with tracking.

Yeah, I got screwed I guess. I dropped my BTO off at Fedex on Tuesday afternoon, but Apple did not process the order until Thursday morning, the same day they should have received the returned iMac. Lost a day or two I guess. Oh well. What is another few days without my iMac.

The first time is a little confusing. Hopefully you won't have a 2nd or third. It becomes an awkward second nature by then.

I was promised the same thing (as soon as it was scanned, etc), and put mine on the UPS truck Monday. After calling three times to see why the system hadn't updated that they'd received it when UPS claimed it had been delivered the next day, I finally saw a shipment notification today.

They promised me expedited shipping, but on a Friday afternoon, expedited or not, I won't get it until Monday :(

I couldn't find the answer to this in the boards.

When you guys exchange your bad iMacs, does that mean you all bought from the Apple store?

Where do I go if I get a yellow-tinted iMac and I bought through an authorized reseller?

Thanks!
