For those whose iMac was delayed additional week or two past the ship date. When you called apple and complained, did they hook you up? Also did they say what the delay was about.

The kind lady I spoke to didn't mention anything wrong with them but offered right away another $100 discount, that made my i7 the price of an i5.
At that point I thanked her and I didn't know what to add.
That was it.

Somethings better than nothing.

:(Mine should have been shipped on Jan 20 and I got this email this morning

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s) as follows:

Z0GF, IMAC 27"/4850-512MB
Ships by Feb 4
Delivers by Feb 9

Should I call them and complain? 2 weeks delay is too much.

I actually called them to let them know that I paid for the 3 day shipping which seems to get bypassed once they delay. That's why they offered me a discount.

I don't think that complaining for the delay will change anything. We are all waiting for the machines to be made and shipped. If they had problems there is nothing we or they can do to speed up the process.

Just be patient, they'll come.

Call them, let us know what you find out about the delay, and if they comp you.

JUst called Apple, a Rep offered $100 discount from the total price. I did request them for a Ram upgrade. But they said, He could do that for me but It would be more delay (another week or more). He even said Ram was the main reason of the back order.

So, i took the offer and would use that amount of money to upgrade Ram myself. Am i too easy?

One more thing, I did ask the REp about if Apple releases new software on Jan 27th like iLife10 , My iMac shipped on Feb 4th will also come with the newest software or not? They said they would send a copy to me for free if mine doesn't.

Wow, the delay was because of RAM, yea right. I find it hard to imagine that they are out of all sizes of RAM. Why would an RAM upgrade delay it even further if they are out anyway?

Mine was suppose to ship today, I haven't got an email yet about the delay, so im going to wait to call.

Your gut feeling was right. I doubt they were short on RAM. It's because you requested free RAM, that he made up an excuse. I bet if you called and spoke to a different tech, and said you'd like to PAY for additional RAM, you would still retain your ship date.

I'll ask them what the delay is when I get the email saying my order is delayed.

Shipping times have increased to three weeks.

The 27" iMac has serious QC issues. Caveat emptor.

Did yours get delayed too?

My status hasn't changed on the apple website, it was supposed to ship on the 21st, I haven't recieved an email yet telling me my order is delayed. I'm waiting to get the email before I call them, it's supposed to be here on the 26th.

WOW, I just called apple to complain about having to wait 6 weeks from the day i ordered my iMac. At first all he offered was to refund my shipping charges of 33.00, I was thinking in my head WTF. I told him because of the delay I now have to buy microsoft office and a hard drive for my computer because of the delay just to use for a couple of weeks until my iMac arrives. I told him I had planned on buying apple care, but now I have to get MSO instead for my PC, So I ended up getting apple care for free. Id rather have my iMac now, than free apple care.:apple:

BTW: I asked about the delay, the first person told me it was due to high demand and that they were making sure everything was right on these new models, but they might have been talking out their ass IDK? The supervisor said it was due to high demand of the 27" i5 processors , I then asked him if I got an i7 would that speed anything up he said no. Then they were trying to get me to buy an 21.5 model, yea right.
