Thought this would be helpful to those of you wondering about the 11" MBA's undersized trackpad. I just got mine in today and have to say that I definitely notice the smaller trackpad, but I don't think its a huge issue and I'm sure its something that I won't even notice a month or so from now. The problem is that I'm accustomed to placing my hand a certain way with my thumb resting on the edge of the laptop which puts my fingers about 2/3s of the way up the trackpad. Of course this doesn't leave me much room to move upward. Over time I'm sure I'll get used to it and learn to position my fingers a little lower on the trackpad.

Here is a photo of my hand on the trackpad. My hands are roughly 7" tall from bottom of palm to tip of middle finger.

Wasn't the first things Steve said when he revealed the 11" model was that it had a "full size keyboard and trackpad"?

Full-size trackpad is difficult to describe, since different manufacturers have different standards. From the looks of it, the trackpad on the MBA11 is as large or even larger than many PC trackpads.

Im posting this on a brand new 2010 MBA and comparing the picture in the first post to my trackpad.
I would say that the 11" model's trackpad is only lacking the height of the 13" because the width looks identical.

Which to be honest wouldn't be an issue, still plenty of room for multi touch gestures.

Personally I find the trackpad size a little frustrating, and I had seen a few people asking about it so I decided to post, no need to be an arse about it. Compared to my 17" MBP its the same width, but roughly 3/4s the height. Wish it were taller, but obviously there's just not room. For me its most noticeable when scrolling a lot.

I've never heard of a "standard size" for an 11" notebook/netbook. Thus how the one on the MBA would be considered undersized is questionable. Over the last two years most Apple laptops of any size have very ample touch pads.

What? What worry? Seriously I didn't even think this as a potential problem. No issues at all. I use MBP13 alongside with MBA11".
