Here's my dilemma. I am currently considering buying an Iphone but a.) I don't want to reup my contract and b.) don't really want the data plan. Since I spend 90% of my time in a fully wi-fi enabled city, I just can't see paying AT&T for their slow service.
Here's the favor I ask of some brave soul: Pop out the SIM card of your Iphone (I hear it's on the top and you use a paperclip to pop the cover off) and put in a SIM from AT&T that is the same (says 3g on it) from a different activated phone. Does it work? If so, you my friend, have just convinced me to buy an Iphone.
My guesses on the two possible occurences: first, and most likely, nothing changes, the iphone still works fine and does its thing, or second, somehow the iphone knows this is not its sim card and refuses to work until its old one is put back in.
I seen this question posed numerous times and no one seems to answer. Usually the answer is "no other carriers' sim cards don't work in the iphone" That's not what I'm asking! Can I take the 3G SIM from my razor, slap it in my Iphone and go? No contracts and no data plan I don't need.
