Forced shutdown of an Application on a Mac.

I just had a application that totally locked up. It didn't lock of the Mac up but I could not shut it down. In order to close it I had to reboot the Mac Studio. On my Windows machine I would have hit the Control-Alt-Delete command and pulled up the task manager and forced the application to close. Does macOS have something like that? As you know the on off button on the Mac Studio is a complete, and total PIA:mad:. Sort of on the back flush mounted so maybe a blind person used to reading braille might be able to feel for it but I have to turn the thing around to see it.
 
As long as the mac is responsive you can try to kill the misbehaving task using "activity monitor". The easiest way to launch it is pressing "Command+Space" followed by entering "activity monitor". There is a stop task button in the upper row of the app.

You could also force quit the application - on the apple menu on top left
Probably should be on Mac forum not IOS

You can also right-click on the app in the dock. In older MacOS there was a Force Quit option in a submenu. It seems in Sonoma you now have to press option to change the Quit option into Force Quit.

The best way to summon moderators is to use the Report button and ask for your thread to be moved.

You can also ask for things like deleting a post or thread, or having Christmas gifts spew out of a USB port.

Sorry, only kidding about that last one.

That did not work. The app was totally frozen.
