OK so our beloved Sony, 4.5 yrs of age has died!

I know I could probably get it repaired - but it is obese ( 200 lbs ) and I swore the next time it had to leave the house it was not coming back!

In any case, buying a new TV 4 days before we leave on Vacation was NOT in the budget.

That aside - I recall working through some compatibility issues with the TV here but it has been a while.

I need some recommendations of TV brands to Buy / Avoid.

At this time, I think I will avoid Sony.

Thanks

Panasonic makes a good plasma. So does Pioneer.

Samsungs are nice for DLPs.

So are Sharps for LCDs.

yea I'm a big fan of the samsung LCDs. I'd also get one w/ the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio in case you ever want to hook up a computer to it. Just make sure it is widescreen (which most are nowadays) and you'll have no apple tv compatibility issues.

im thinking about getting a samsung 40" lcd here pretty soon. its the LN-40A550 i think. its got 1080p picture which i like for the future, and its relatively cheap at around 1200 or less. got great reviews from many other sites
