i woke up this morning and tried to use my iPhone, it said my account had been locked for security reasons, required me to log in, and change my password. So instead I tried my iPad. Same thing. I have been using the same 15 character password that I memorized for years, and now suddenly I have to change it for apparently no reason, and memorize a new 15 character password. WTF is going on? I’m pissed off.

Instead of being mad, you should be grateful that Apple was looking out for your account security. I have gotten the same message twice over the years. It isn't a big deal. It can happen if some of your devices aren't all logged in with the correct account ID and password, or if someone was trying to Phish or hack your account.

You were probably fished. Apple won’t lock your account or make you change your password. It’s time to begin damage control...go to AppleID.apple.com and try to reset your password immediately.

No these were system prompts. This is why I checked on my iPad as well, to make sure it wasn't some browser or app trick. It was definitely Apple system interaction.

Maybe someone was trying to log into my account, I dunno. It was irritating though, now I have to memorize a new long password.

I may have figured this out. And it may have happened for a good reason. A couple days before this password change I lost a 16GB usb stick with my ENTIRE music collection on it. There were a few Apple Music albums on there too, that were DRM still. I think someone found it and tried to play them, then tried to get into my account.

I hate that all my music is out there with some scumbag.
