I knew this would happen to me someday. :-(

Had a little bit too much to drink last night and changed my password before going to sleep. Now, I can't remember it.

It's an unlocked (quickpwn) 2.2 2G phone. Just yesterday I deleted the ipsw firmware files. And the backups were taking too long so I have been canceling them.

Any options? There's data on it that I absolutely can't lose.

thanks - eV

For all the inevitable posts about stealing a phone, look at my join date and my posting history.

as far as i'm aware, the only way is to restore the iphone through itunes! have you got openSSH installed on your phone? if so you MAY be able to retrieve some of the data from it, but not sure if that works when the iphone's locked?

It's a jailbroken phone. Does that mean it has openssh?

In terms of restoring, I'd have to download the firmware, restore and unlock it again through quickpwn?

What a mess. I have all the contacts backed up but the 'notes' have a LOT of notes.

The damn thing was taking an hour to backup yesterday and I clicked the x button because I was impatient.

it only has openSSH if you installed openSSH through cydia. as far as i'm aware yes you'd have to restore and unlock it again through quickpwn or pwnagetool, but don't just take my word for it, i'd wait a little while and see if someone else here has a better solution! good luck! x

Thanks petemwah. Turns out that I was STILL drunk when trying to enter the code. I changed the code to ... the original one. lol

So now it's unlocked again. Guess what I'm doing next ... backing it up on iTunes :) :)

good idea! heh you've just made me realise something, i always wondered why the passcode deactivated itself when i restored from a backup, and now i see why! :)

Just an FYI, there are ways to bypass the lockcode using tools like xpwn. it's a heck of a process but it can be done. :)

Solution

Okay here is my solution. DON'T DRINK! But ya did, so... If the data is something you can not backup in iTunes then.... Uh... Oh boy you better hope you have some type of SSH or anything activated on there. If so that would be easy. But I'm going to assume you already thought of that and don't. (By the way, did you try 6736? It's just my guess)

Sometimes after syncing with my computer it will unlock without a pass. What happens if you make an emergency call then hang up?

I will keep thinking. (try 2435 too)

Just for curiosity, did you read the post three above yours? The OP already solved it.

:) Nice guesses. And you're right, I need to implement a new rule when I drink

1. No drunk dialing
2. No drunk emailing
3. No drunk password changing

I'll look into xpwn just in case. BTW, is there any solution to the slow backups? The bloody thing takes an hour to try and backup when I synch and I always end up canceling the process.
