Forgot Screentime password. HELP

I can’t even reset my phone without entering that password. Any help guys would be appreciated....
It works the same as the restrictions passcode was pre-iOS 12. If you forgot it, you have to erase and setup as new.
Yeah it doesn't really. Here is the main difference. For the benefit of those who might do something similar. If you forget your password, yes your right you have to reset your phone and setup as a new device (Do not restore from backup). Had to do it from itunes thou you wont be able to reset from the phone because it will ask you for the password there as well before you are allowed to reset. Anyways that is done and im back up and running.
Here is the kicker, anyone in your family (kids) that you setup with screentime is password protected with the same password so they need to be reset too.

In the future, put important passwords like this in a password manager. That way, you won’t run into this problem.
It is possible to recover a forgotten Screen Time passcode: iPhone Backup Extractor will let you pull the code out. The functionality to get the code isn't in the free edition, so it's one to balance against the alternate pain of a phone reset.

So you say erase and set up as new.. Can I just reset my phone(iPhone 7) and restore my iCloud backup and then reset the screen time passcode? Or will I not be able to use the iCloud backup to reset the screen time passcode?

No, not your fault. If they wanted to use your phone’s passcode to turn it off, fine, but it’s not really a security issue to turn off device usage.
If I have the “central” device and don’t recall the screen time code, I should be able to reset with the master phone credentials. The current situation is inane.

Thanks for following up. It all worked out and I got a password which worked, however, it was never a password I used or have used in the past. Either way, it is all unlocked and the best part is I didn't have to wipe my phone the way that Apple told me I would have to.

Insane indeed, nice way to get money from people 35 $ or 70 $ due Apple's totally ****ed up feature. This is so SECURE that there is no way to recover password (which I never setup in the first place) and yet someone is making money with utility that can read it from backup. Apple must be getting some share
Does anyone know why Apple makes it so difficult to reset/disable this passcode? This really is something they should allow you to reset from icloud.com using the owner's Apple ID credentials, similar to removing the device from Find my iPhone.
I'd imagine it is to cater for users who don't set up an iCloud Family Sharing unit with their kids, but instead give them their own iPhone with their own iCloud account. Short of separately being able to register a parent on TouchID or FaceID, a secondary code is needed, as the child would have full access to their own iCloud settings.
It's also helpful to use a passcode rather than an iCloud account where these restrictions are applied en masse via MDM across many devices where there isn't a parent as such, such as on a school or company's devices. It's not just for restricting access for children using the device.
When the family are tied together in an iCloud Family share it would be possible as you suggest. You'd always need the option of some sort of passcode override for times when it matters: like being on a long journey with the family where there's no Internet. Most of the world doesn't have Wi-Fi -- and thus the ability to change Family Sharing settings -- on a plane, for instance.
Just a thought: could it be that someone in your family knew your old code, then changed it to a new one to prank you? Wouldn't be the first time I hear that.

We built a fix soon after the change, but have held off releasing it until we've been able to satisfy ourselves with its security implications. It's critical for us not to undermine any user's data security.
Until we ship it I'd recommend running a one-off backup through iTunes to recover the passcode.

Same here. I am sure about the pin I just set but after I set “share across all devices”, the PIN number becomes incorrect. This could be a serious bug that Apple needs to pay attentions to?
