just for fun

...
also:
for the nMP choice, the poll is meant to assume that it's playing out as apple had planned.. like, they were able to put their planned next generation gpus /cpus successfully... and we were now waiting on, say, nmp v3 (mp 8,1)

the new tower/box option is meaning: something a bit more traditional/established in workstation_land... basically, a cheese-grater that doesn't look like a cMP

Something in between the 5,1 and 6,1. So a polished black box with rounded edges, but taller and with a sliding door on the side to access the internals. Also has to be quiet and cool like the 6,1.

If I had my way, I'd do two models.

(1)
New Mac Pro:
Slots and bays. Big. Powerful. Beautiful. Easily expandable and upgradeable with industry standard parts. As much as I love the cheesegrater, it is time to move on to something else (as long as these core principles stay intact).

(2)
But many people never upgrade and don't care about expansion. Or those needs are addressed somewhere else (cloud, closet, etc). Therefore:

Mac Pro Mini: An updated 6,1. Many people here like small, powerful, and beautiful so you keep them happy. Make the second GPU optional to lower the base price--a lot of people don't need it. The cheaper base version would cause some Mini/iMac buyers to move up a model and you'll sell more Apple Displays too. And of course people who like having a fast and sleek little Final Cut Pro tube can opt for the second GPU.

i voted #4.. something completely new/unique.

and i hope it plays out like:
they build #4 and the people choosing #1-3 (or most of them at least) actually like the thing.

i'm pretty sure, all things considered, that's the best case scenario going into the future.

---
now, whether or not apple could pull that off, remains to be seen ;)

With a Rose Gold option.....

It would be cool to see something new and unique but i would settle for the concept that someone made before the nMP was first shown, i still like the concept of a slightly smaller cMP achieved by no optical bays (sorry guys), a black option would be nice

Whatever it turns out to be, it would be wise for Johnny Ivy to keep his fetish for thinness (for thinness sake) and the useless emoji touchbar as far away from it as possible.

Still just happy they are doing something until and unless I see it's something disappointing (hopefully it will be great)... I chose option 1, but I'd be happy with options 3 or 4 too if they do them right.

But the cMP is the design/form factor to beat as far as I'm concerned. For laptops and phones and tablets, making everything thin makes more sense for obvious reasons, for desktops it's just silly, especially when we already have the mini and the wafer-thin iMac. IMHO. Give us a nice big fat box with plenty of room in it! Either way it's probably going under my desk. In fact they should rename the category from 'desktop' to 'deskunder'. I want another deskunder!

You will most likely be disappointed.

And if you don't add your voice, it will be your own fault.

"Tim and Phil will do the right thing for me" won't happen if you don't tell them what you need.
