iPad mini Form fitting sleeve

My iPad mini retina is in a Magpul case which I absolutely love. It's small and keeps the sleek form factor of the iPad which is important to me.

I use my iPad for work and sometimes I need to slide it into my tool tray which has items which could scratch or damage the screen.

What I would like is some type of sleeve that I can slide the iPad mini I to when I need to put it in my tool tray. Maybe something plastic? Do they make something like this?

Bump, I'd really like a hard plastic sleeve to slide the iPad Mini into. Maybe something made out of Kydex, the plastic material that many pistol holsters are made out of...

I know this isn't a sleeve but my brother uses the Cygnett Workmate and a screen protector, he's a mechanic. Worth checking out:

I had the Otterbox which was a good case, but it's way too big. I like the smaller Magpul case much better. 99% of the time it's all I need! but that 1% of the time when I need to put the iPad somewhere with other stuff that may damage it! I'd like a protective sleeve to slide it into for quick access.

I have the Timbuk2 Plush sleeve for my iPad and its protected very well. I have a Tucano neoprene sleeve for my MBP which covers and protects from spillage and scratches. The Timbuk2 Plush sleeve has some type of high density foam plus a ballistic covering. So far after 2 years there is no sign of wear and tear on it. I keep pushing and squeezing it and it still keeps it shape.


The Kindle and iPad Mini are about the same size. So you would be looking for Timbuk2 Plush Sleeve Case Cover Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7. Ebay has several for around $5-10. I got mine from 5 Below Store for $5. I've seen them stock the ones for the Kindle too. Timbuk2 only has a brown color. I have the grey which is very nice. TSA friendly.

Find an old pair of jeans, line around your ipad mini, double the length for when you fold it, cut it out, fold together and sew 3 sides, put it inside out. Walla!

The plush and high density foam is on the inside and not the outside. Its suppose to protect your iPad during any travels or spills. There is a TPU material that wraps around the sleeve. I've have this material on all of my Timbuk2 bags. They all have sustained bad weather, heavy downpours, spills, etc. With my iPad it protects any stuff that I also have inside my bag like scissors, screwdrivers, glue, liquids of any kind. I would be more worried about liquids getting on my iPad than a screwdriver or pliers which required some force to penetrate the case. Tool tray or a bag of art supplies = no different. I don't like plastic sleeves because it traps dirt underneath scratching the back. When I removed my case from around my iPod I noticed there were a lot of scratches. I was surprised but then I realized that it was the dirt underneath. I like the Plush sleeve because it removes the debris from the back of the case when in storage.
