I formatted my iPod 120GB classic through Vista, by right clicking and clicking format. I had to this to use it on a Windows PC as a hard disk. Me being careless, and an idiot you might say, did not think that this would delete everything including the crucial files that control the iPod itself.
Now I am stuck with a vegetable iPod. When I plug it into my Mac iTunes does not recognize it and finders sees it as an UNTITLED 1 folder.

What should I do in this case? I can't restore, I can't reset or anything of that sort. I read some people saying that I have to find the ipod_control file from the internet and paste it there????
Any suggestions?

Try resetting the iPod (Menu+Select), this will regenerate your sysinfo file.

then force into disk mode and run itunes.

i dont know what hapapened. i have formatted my ipod in xp many times and this didnt happen. the firmware is supposed to be in ROM, and only accessable by itunes and the updater
