Formatting Mac Mini - Grey Screen?

Ok, so I have decided to format my Mac Mini. I put the disk in, turn off the Mini, turn on and hold C. After waiting that takes me to the 'Select Language' bit. I select English, im taken to a Dark grey screen, a cog appears, spins, then my Mac Mini turns off.

I try this again, but restarting my Mac from the App on the restore disk. Still no luck..


How can I format this bloody thing. Getting quite annoyed with it now.

Reboot and hold down the Option Key and choose to boot from the CD.
