I have a 32GB Memorex thumb drive I want to format through Disk Utility. Which file format do I need to format this as to be sure it works between Windows and Mac?

Cheers!

FAT32 has a 4GB file size limitation, which means any file you try to copy to a FAT32 formatted drive that is greater than 4GB will not copy over. ExFAT does not have this limitation but is not supported by as many devices especially older ones like FAT32 is. I would check to see if all the devices you will be using the thumb drive with support exFAT and if so go with that. If you know you won’t have files greater than 4GB, go with FAT32.
