Hello everyone,

i'm planning on cleaning my computer and formatting and re-installing windows xp
so i'm wondering what's the right thing to do in order to backup my itunes/iphone configuration.

In other words, is it possible to still my iphone with itunes seamlessly once windows xp is re-installed ?

Thank you very much !

You want to FIRST de-authorize your computer on iTunes. Then you really would need to back-up your music and apps. Everything that is left on the iPhone media-wise will be deleted next time you sync if you don't back up your apps, music and movies etc.

Hi solideliquid,

Thank you for your answer !

Could you please explain the 'de-authorize the computer on itunes' part ?

As for the media, all my personnal files that are on the computer ( pics, music, miscellaneous files) will be copied on my external hard drive and i'll transfer 'em back once xp is installed so i don't think that will be a problem.

Concerning the apps, i'm not sure how the procedure works.

I'm thinking there must be a log of all the apps i paid for in my itunes account, so once i'll sync the iphone again iTunes will check and re-download the stuff that had been deleted, right ?

Thank you so much for your time
