So my wife is getting an iphone, but she would have to change her numbers so she is going to keep her old phone and just forward her calls to the iphone to avoid the hassle of changing a number. But we wondering if people were to text her if those would forward to the iphone?

LOL, it's funny the assumptions made. I guess I should have mentioned that she is with Alltel which was bought out by Verizon, and her number is from a different state so the number won't port. Also, her phone that she has now is about 6 years old so it doesn't have a simcard. So they won't forward huh? That sucks. Oh well, I guess she'll have to stick with her old phone for texting.

So you're going to pay for 2 phone lines for your wife, one of which she won't even use? Why not just get her an iPod Touch?

If your wife is buying an individual plan, there shouldn't be any problem porting a number from a different state. The only reason they couldn't do that is if it's part of a family plan, because all the numbers have to have the same area code. I'd speak to ATT again about porting the number.
