My wife found a pair of AirPods Pro (in their case), we've synced via bluetooth to her iPhone and the owner's Apple ID has been partially revealed. How can we find the full details to contact the owner?

If the owner activated Find My prior to losing the Airpods, they can choose to send a message with their contact details that will appear on your wife's iPhone. However, you can't know if Find My is active at all, so all you can do is wait a couple days for a message to appear. If nothing happens at all, they might not have activated the feature in which case there is nothing the owner can do on their end.

I am uncertain if the owner can see the location of your wife's iPhone, but I think the Airpods Pro allow for that - again, only if Find My was enabled prior to losing them. In that case trying to connect them to another iPhone (your wife's) would have updated the location info for the owner.

What I am unclear about is whether a detailed address is shown or just an approximate location. Perhaps someone else knows whether the owner can see your location precisely or not.

Thanks for the reply.

Currently we've got bluetooth enabled on her iPhone and under Settings > Bluetooth> My Devices> we have "Bob's AirPods Pro - Connected"

Also if I flip open the case a white window appears on the phone screen stating "Bob's AirPods Pro - Find My"

and there's also a picture of a pair of AirPods and case rotating (AirPods are at 100% and case is 18% battery)

We did originally get a partial reveal of the owner's Apple ID, but I can't seem to replicate it now.

So basically there's nothing we can do, we just have to wait to see if the owner sends a message?

Should we keep the AirPods connected to the phone via bluetooth, will this help the owner?

Thanks again.

I believe you need to take the Airpods out of the case and leave them outside the case (unless of course the battery runs out, then you can place them in it temporarily for charging), the tracking doesn't work when they are stored in the case AFAIK. (But the location was already transmitted, so they'll see this location regardless of whether the Airpods are in the case or not.)

a white window appears on the phone screen stating "Bob's AirPods Pro - Find My"
Does that allow any interaction at all? If it was marked lost, there would be a message if the owner set one. Correct, there is nothing you can initiate yourself other than keeping them connected outside the case and checking for a message temporarily. And if the exact location is transmitted you might get a visit from the owner.

You don't have to keep them connected all the time, the location was already transmitted, it's more so that you can periodically check if the owner finally marked the airpods lost and set up a message for you to read.

If nothing happens after a week then you could hand it in somewhere to a lost&found. If you do, bring the iPhone along and connect them one last time outside the case. Then the iPhone will send this final location, and if the owner ever ends up visiting this location, they should end up right at the front doorstep of the lost&found. You can do this immediately if you don't want to wait.

You might want to call Apple Support.
Unfortunately Apple cannot assist with tracking or recovery. This is 100% up to the owner to use the software tools provided by Apple to do this themselves. You can call Apple Support but they'll likely just recommend you hand it into a lost&found.

Sadly users often don't know they have to do this, so they might not even know they can leave a message. Perhaps they'll need a bit of time to ask their tech savvy friends what they should do, and hopefully then someone will show them how to mark them lost and leave a message.

Thanks for the additional posts.

I'll do as suggested and take the 'pods out of their case.

Regarding the white window that pops up. Theres no option for interaction other than clicking on the X in the top right corner which closes the window.
